Airtel launches V-Fiber Superfast Broadband With Speed Up to 100 Mbps & Free Voice Calling For 90 Days

Bharti Airtel (Airtel), on Thursday said that it has deployed ‘V-Fiber’ technology to offer superfast broadband speeds to its customers. ‘V-Fiber’ is based on Vectorization - Europe’s No. 1 fixed broadband technology – and will deliver speeds of up to 100 Mbps on Airtel’s fixed broadband footprint in 87 cities.

Airtel is the first operator in India to deploy Vectorization. The offering is LIVE in Chennai starting today and will be rolled out across Airtel’s national broadband network in the coming weeks.

“V-Fiber is based on Vectorization–Europe’s No. 1 fixed broadband technology–and will deliver speeds of up to 100 mbps on Airtel’s fixed broadband footprint in 87 cities. ‘V-Fiber’ will transform the home broadband for Airtel customers with consistently superfast data speeds and enable HD video streaming, heavy file downloads and uploads in a multi-device environment (over Wi-Fi). More importantly, there is no new wiring, drilling etc. required at an existing customer’s premises. One simply needs to upgrade to a new modem to experience ‘V-Fiber’ speeds.

Other telecom operators such as Reliance Jio Infocomm and Vodafone India are also targeting the home broadband users to gain from higher-usage data consumption by users. Between July 2014 and October 2015, cellular data usage grew 80%, while internet usage on Wifi networks surged 164% during the period, according to Ericsson Mobility Report.

Also the cost to deliver per megabit of internet provided through Wifi could cost R0.02 while consumers are currently paying R0.23 per MB on 2G/3G/4G networks, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
