Facebook Rolls Out Group Calls for Messenger on iOS and Android

Facebook announced group calling feature for the Messenger app which allows you to add up to 50 friends for a group call. Marcus said that this feature is coming to both Android and iOS within next 24 hours. The new update will show up a phone icon in group chats, it will also let you add a new participant during call .

The announcement was made by David Marcus, Messenger Chief, who explained how users could start group calls from within group conversations. In order to do so, all users would need to do is to click the phone icon to get started. Additionally, users will have control over individual participants.

For those who have updated their Messenger app, they will receive the aforementioned option within the next 24 hours from the time the announcement was made. It is important to note that no more than 50 individuals can participate in a group call. As for the phone icon, it is located right above group chat.

In order to use group calling feature, you need to tap on the phone icon and then choose which friends you want to add in the group chat. After choosing, messenger will dial your friends at the same time, once your friends answer the call, you are able to talk with all. In case, if any friend misses the call, he/she can still join throughout the call.

Messenger is getting group voice calling not video calling, and this feature may be rolled out soon. If Facebook keeps introducing more and more features to its messenger app, it could be also used instead of Skype, Hangout as they are currently allowing conference calls through their platform.
