WhatsApp Old Status Update Returns With "Tagline"

Facing backlash and user anger at the new changes in the app, WhatsApp is reportedly bringing back the old Status feature that allowed users to set up a text message as their status in their users profiles. However, now the feature -- once it is back -- will be called Tagline.

On Thursday WhatsApp had rolled out a new feature called Status. This adds a tab to the app, similar to the Chat tab, where people can share their photos and videos. At the same time, company removed the old "status" feature that was part of user profile.

WhatsApp users were able to state their status in a short text line, which showed the usual "Hey there, I'm using WhatsApp". With the new "WhatsApp Status", the messenger of the same name has replaced the function but with short pictures or video clips, which disappear after 24 hours - in the style of Snapchat, one of the last remaining competitors of Mark Zuckerberg 's social network empire Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Surprisingly, some users seem to miss the previous WhatsApp update in text form but. For this group, there is hope: In the iOS and Windows Phone version of WhatsApp the new feature "Tagline" was discovered. This will enable WhatsApp users to set a short sentence as a hanger in the future - just as the state-of-the-art update has enabled in text form. In the settings, users can also choose who exactly sees their personal tagline.

Currently, the "Tagline" feature is integrated into the betas of the two WhatsApp versions and is therefore not yet accessible. However, with the nimble operation that the developers of WhatsApp have so far, it would not be too long before the function is officially released. In the final rollout, the Android version should also be on board.
