Pokémon GO First Huge Update Coming This Week

Most popular game of 2016 Pokemon developer Niantic has announced that it’ll be releasing a big update for the game this week that’ll bring updated encounter gameplay, new evolution options, new Berries, and more. More importantly, over 80 new Pokemon will also be added from Pokemon Gold & Silver.

Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile are among the new Pokemon. These will be found in the wild, not exclusively from eggs.

The new evolution options allow Trainers to evolve their Pokemon into any of the Pokemon found in Gold & Silver’s Johto region. As for the new Berries, there are two of them. The Nanab Berry slows Pokemon movements, and the Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy received if the following catch attempt succeeds.

On a more superficial level, increased customization options will be available for purchase. Trainers will be able to further customize their looks, so now not everyone will have to walk around wearing the same outfit.

This update may not introduce the long-requested multiplayer and trading features, but Pokémon Go sounds like it has at least 80 more reasons to start checking it out again. New Pokémon may not diversify the gameplay, but the additional items sound like they’ll shake things up just enough to make 2016’s biggest hit feel a bit fresher.

Also part of the update, according to the full patch notes, are specific genders for every Pokémon, a night mode map, bonus candies for catching Pokémon that are already evolved and, of course, minor text fixes.
