Google Chrome and Firefox Blocked Popular Torrent Site The Pirate Bay

Torrent lovers all over the world were caught in a bit of mess since morning as Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox browsers are blocking access The Pirate Bay website for hosting ‘harmful programs’. The message appears when torrent lovers try to access ThePirateBay download pages and is apparently triggered by some malicious advertisement run on TPB.


We all know that Government has banned almost every popular torrent websites. We had also heard the news that visiting torrent sites can get you 3 years in Jail. However, that turns out to be just a warning.


We had recently seen the demise of KickassTorrents and Torrentz. However, Extratorrent and The Pirate Bay is still enjoying the rush of traffic. However, according to the latest reports Google is just acting as a roadblock for Pirate Bay’s track.

The popular torrent website The Pirate Bay will now be in for a surprise when using Google's Chrome browser, which is now stating that the website has been blocked due to it "hosting harmful programs."


“Attackers on thepiratebay.org might attempt to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience (for example, by changing your homepage or showing extra ads on sites you visit),” the warning adds.


Firefox visitors were told “This web page at thepiratebay.org has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences. Unwanted software pages try to install software that can be deceptive and affect your system in unexpected ways.”


we have a look at Google’s Safe browsing Site status then it shows the current status of the site The Piratebay as “Partially Dangerous” and it also says “Some pages on thepiratebay.org contain harmful programs right now.”

Comodo’s secure DNS has a built-in malware domain filtering feature and flagged the Pirate Bay as a “hacking” site, however, now the message has disappeared. The reason why the site is been shown “Partially Dangerous” is still not clear, however, there are chances that due to some malicious ad networks and popup ads. If Ad networks was an issue then things will be normal soon.
