WhatsApp Rollout New Two-Factor Authentication Feature

WhatsApp is not taking a break in adding newer features to the platform. Right after adding a new ‘FixedSys’ font for iOS and Android users, the company will add the ability to share all kinds of files, public invitations links and QR codes for WhatsApp groups. WhatsApp will also add the newly introduced 70 emojis submitted by Unicode Consortium last month.Apart from that, keeping the importance of cyber security, WhatsApp will introduce two-factor authentication to the popular messaging platform. This will work through e-mail and you can also change the recovery email using WhatsApp web.

Two factor authentication is a security feature which will be added to Whatsapp, as the latest beta is said to include the feature by default. Screenshots posted on Twitter by @WABetaInfo show that Whatsapp will use a six digit verification code on top of the SMS code received during the activation process.

The information comes in after the new beta APK released by WhatsApp was scrutinized. The codes reveal four new files being added to WhatsApp, which are related to the two-factor authentication feature. They are as follows:
  • fragment_two_factor_auth_email.xml
  • activity_two_factor.xml
  • settings_two_factor_auth.xml
  • fragment_two_factor_auth_code.xml
For some reason, the developers didn’t confirm yet the upcoming Video Calling feature. Now there are many users who are asking if this feature will ever come to the WhatsApp application. However, let’s not forget that there are already some mobile messaging applications out there that have this feature. The developers of WhatsApp are somehow forced to bring this feature to the application or else, some of the users will ditch WhatsApp application for another application that allows them to make Video Calls.
