As Google turns 18 today, the company hosted ‘Google for India’ event in New Delhi, where it made a slew of India-centric announcements. The application is specially designed to work smoothly where mobile data connectivity is poor. By using Youtube Go we can watch Youtube videos offline without data connection, and it provides the file size, and quality options which we can select while downloading the offline videos.

The YouTube GO videos show you a preview, which is basically a gif of thumbnails from different time stamps of the video, so that you get a basic idea of what the video is about before you even start playing it.
With the YouTube Go app, save videos for offline viewing with the option of choosing the quality and file size to ensure the amount of data needed. The app will be available in 10 India languages including Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati and Malayalam, and will apparently be able to search offline as well.

YouTube Go’s homepage will be populated with 10 videos, with a link for saved videos. The displayed videos will be based on location, language choices and the user’s browsing history, similar to what YouTube currently does.

But what's innovative is the feature of sharing videos with nearby users without using even a single byte of data. Share videos with friends and family nearby without using any data. You can send and receive videos instantly and offline with others using the YouTube Go app.

The application is available to the general public soon. If you are interested in accessing it you can apply for it here.
