Teenage Hacker Says He Jailbroke The iPhone 7 in Just 24 Hours

The iPhone 7 is, in Apple’s own words, “the best, most advanced iPhone ever.” It is not, however, impossible to hack. It has only been a week since the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus hit the market, now it seems that the device has already been pirated or jailbroken. A renowned hacker and security researcher named Luca Tedesco has risen a picture on his Twitter account showing the jailbreak iPhone 7.

As always, though, you can expect Apple to patch the vulnerabilities that let hackers jailbreak the phone with upcoming software updates. After all, that’s how this iPhone jailbreak cat-and-mouse game is played.

A teenage hacker has found a way to circumvent the phone’s security and restrictions, jailbreaking a brand new iPhone 7 running iOS 10, effectively taking full control of it and allowing him to install apps not approved by Apple. The 19-year-old hacker, who’s known online as qwertyoruiop but whose real name is Luca Todesco, took advantage of a series of bugs he found and exploited—and all it took him, he said, was just 24 hours.

Luca Tedesco posted an image on Twitter that shows a jailbroken iPhone 7 (iPhone9,3), running iOS 10.0.1 with Cydia version 1.1.26 installed, discussing the jailbreak in subsequent messages. However, the developer did not share the method he used to jailbreak the iPhone, and there’s no tool available that you can use to jailbreak your device. It’s also not clear if this is an untethered jailbreak.

He also said that he could definitely submit the vulnerabilities he found to Apple, since they fall under the newly launched bug bounty, but he hasn’t decided whether to do that yet. The hacker told me that he needs to polish the exploits a bit more to make the jailbreak “smoother,” and that he is also planning to make this jailbreak work through the Safari browser just like the famous “jailbreakme.com” which allowed anyone to jailbreak their iPhone 4 just by clicking on a link.

Even if the hacker, Tedesco has not publicly released the tool that he used to get this type of access. However, for now at least we all know that jailbreak for iPhone 7 has already been developed, but, the hacker, shared his findings history of this kind not beyond the photos or videos, as it simply shows that the hacker suggests it’s indeed possible to jailbreak iPhone 7.

The Pangu team, which has proven to be one of the most reliable jailbreak sources, is also working on iOS 10. Back in July, the group said it was already testing out the software. So hopefully jailbreak fans won’t have to wait much longer for an official release.
