Google, Facebook, Amazon, IBM and Microsoft Join Forces Of AI

Google, Facebook, Amazon, IBM, and Microsoft have formed an alliance under the snappy title of the Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society. In addition to alleviating fears over a possible Skynet scenario and other “legitimate concerns,” the non-profit group will conduct and publish research in AI-related areas such as ethics, fairness, privacy, transparency, the exchange of information between machine learning systems, trustworthiness, reliability, and collaboration between people and artificial intelligence.

The nonprofit will “advance public understanding” of AI and establish “best practices on the challenges and opportunities within the field.” Each company will have a representative on the group’s 10-member board. Google’s representative will hail from AI unit DeepMind, which recently developed a software that beat the world champion Go player, a major advancement in AI research.

The organisation has also said that it will "conduct research, recommend best practices, and publish research under an open license in areas such as ethics, fairness and inclusivity; transparency, privacy, and interoperability; collaboration between people and AI systems; and the trustworthiness, reliability and robustness of the technology."

The project's website states: "We believe that artificial intelligence technologies hold great promise for raising the quality of people's lives and can be leveraged to help humanity address important global challenges such as climate change, food, inequality, health, and education."

This consortium is open to other companies who want to contribute their resources and expertise in the future, and to be seen if any of the big absences, then here they are Apple, Twitter and Intel, they actually not seem to be interested at the moment which may get resolved in the coming months.

The objectives of this group are using a standard open license for all content to be published, including reports will focus on areas such as ethics and privacy in an extremely promising segment but should be monitored closely. Hopefully, this will help the consortium to control the line of development which will not warp.

  1. In May 1995, the eighth-generation Corolla was developed with a focus on the environment, safety, and total cost of ownership. The body dimensions were virtually unchanged, and many of the components were the same as those of its predecessor's, and yet the new model managed to reduce the vehicle weight by up to 50 kg. Toyota xe saloon 110 is a demandable model of them.
